A cluster of three bike frames, that was developed in previous studies on compact cells<\/a>, is used as a spatial module.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

A triangulated container is created around the cluster geometry and simplified to a deformed tetrahedral cell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on an aggregation system from our previous research project<\/a>, the tetra-units are assembled into a spatial framework. A single unit type is used with every second instance flipped by 180\u00b0 and each connected at the corner points – the aggregation can be continued infinitely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bike frame geometries are cut off at the corners to create flat connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aggregation is then compressed so that adjacent cluster modules are connected. Due to its repetitive logic, the system can still be continued infinitely forming interconnected cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resulting structures share interesting similarities with Konrad Wachsmann’s theoretically infinite designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
